Each representative to the MCHRC is a
member of one of the three core teams:
Police and Community
Relations Core Team
The mission of this team is to develop
ways to improve relationships and cooperation between the
general population and the police community. These efforts are
aimed at improving perceptions that the various groups in the
community have of their police officers, and will enhance the
effectiveness of the police in the performance of their
duties.
Youth Awareness Core
Team
The primary focus of this core team is to
formulate and support efforts to reduce and eliminate hate,
bias, and related violence among the youth of Monmouth County.
The team provides services and programs for use in schools and
community activities involving children of all
ages.
Economic Issues Core
Team
The mission of this core team is to
examine hate/bias incidents that have an economic basis or
implication. The core team recommends strategies for dealing
with problems including housing, employment, and
business
In addition to the Core Teams, two members
from each Core Team work in one of three Support Teams. These
teams are Incident Response and Reporting, Communications, and
Resource Development.
Incident Response and
Reporting Support Team
This support team coordinates responses to
bias and/or discrimination incidents as identified via the
MCHRC bias hotline. The committee follows referral procedures
referred by the commission including possible referrals
to the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.
Communications Support
Team
This support team facilitates the
dissemination of information about the activities of the
commission, using press releases, electronic and print media,
and maintains a speakers' bureau and emergency calling
list.
Resource Development
Team
This support team collects and organizes a
variety of print documents to use at events and activities. It
distributes information to interested community groups and
creates and develops information as needed.
